Picking the right terminator is vital to the performance of your SCSI chain. A passive terminator is simply a resistor network designed to regulate the impedance in the line, while an active terminator uses a voltage regulator to optimize signal voltage. Active termination is always preferred over passive, and most Cables To Go Active Terminators feature an LED to monitor terminator power line status. Active negation terminators differ from active terminators in that voltage regulation is provided within a 1% tolerance, and current sinking capability of 20mA is added, creating a much more stable SCSI bus.
